Religious Education
At Tiptree Heath, the teaching of Religious Education (RE) meets the aims outlined in the current Essex Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education (2022). Our curriculum:
Develops knowledge and understanding of the religious and non-religious beliefs or worldviews held by members of the increasingly diverse Essex community.
Reflects the fact that religious traditions in Great Britain are in the main Christian, while taking into account the teachings and practices of the other principal religions represented in Great Britain.
Develops children’s ability to make sense of different religions and beliefs, at an appropriate level of challenge for their age.
Encourages positive attitudes towards differences between their own and others’ religious and cultural beliefs.
Enables pupils to relate their learning in RE to their own life experiences.
A scheme of work developed by The Saffron Academy Trust is the document upon which teachers base their planning of RE. As pupils progress through the school, they revisit and build upon their prior knowledge of the different beliefs and practices taught across the
school. At Tiptree Heath, we are committed to providing children with a positive learning environment in which they feel safe to express themselves and to ask questions in the presence of their peers. Throughout their time at the school, children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural identifies are developed.
